Back to work...

As soon as my alarm went off this morning, my first response was an audible grumble. I felt a pang of adrenaline hit my heart as my anxiety kicked in and I hit the snooze button for the first of two times. Rolling over---I hugged my husband as though he was the only thing keeping me on the earth. I don't know what it is about coming back from holidays and long weekends that makes you want to say "Screw It," call in, and spend the day looking for another job.

I slowly made my way to the bathroom and reorganized my energies. Still feeling sluggish but more awake after a hot shower and a little meditation, I got dressed and ready for work. Dexter, my overgrown (and currently un-neutered) kitten came into the bathroom looking for a place to pee.

I'm still unsure why his litter box isn't the ideal place for him---maybe he doesn't like sharing it with Gracie...

He began to dig through a pile of towels headed for the laundry and promptly squatted. I screamed, "Dexter!!!! Stop!!" and tried to push him off the towels.

He rolled over like a turtle on it's back---STILL PEEING!!! Apparently human males aren't the only ones who can't stop once they start...

Dexter winked at me as he he continued to project a fountain at the wall. He lay there, frozen and blinking, as though paralyzed. I realized he just wasn't going to stop so, I threw a towel over him to catch the stream and keep it from sinking down into the baseboards. I waited for him to shiver when he was done, the way my son did when he was in diapers but, he didn't. He just got up and bounded out of the room like Pepe LePew, energized after his morning pee.

This is how my day started.

I kept telling myself that it was going to be an awesome day. I even managed a girly giggle on the way to work which is extremely rare---especially when I'm thinking about work. I was running late but I didn't care. It would be ok. All of the agents would be in their Monday Morning Meeting until noon and I would have the office to myself to do my paperwork, answer emails, update my blog, Facebook, and organize for the day.

*Sigh*

I need to get off my butt and find a new job! I'm very excited about the upcoming year though. I know good things are coming!
