Ok so it's been pretty cold here over the last week and yesterday we got some snow/ice/sleet whatever the yankees want to call it. You see here in the South---if it's cold and wet---it's snow, just like any soft drink is called Coke. You want a Coke? Ok what kind? Dr. Pepper? Mello Yello? Just regular Coke? Ok....
My boss is from the North and we've had many conversations about what things are called and which words mean what. Like a Tobogan up North is a sled. Down here it's a hat. Whatever. I think it's funny....
This morning I got stuck going up a hill to my office and could NOT get up it! But I was too afraid to go back down and I couldn't get to a driveway to turn around. Since the 3 wrecks I've been in were all in bad weather---I have a tendency to freak out a bit. Plus there was a car flipped on its roof just 15 feet away from me!!!
A man drove by seeing that I was stuck and got my truck down the hill for me. Thank heavens for him because no one was answering their phones and I was a mess!
I slid all over the road even after getting out of that craziness only to find that our parking lot was one solid sheet of ice. Yay!
I sat in my truck for a minute trying to decide whether to say "Screw it" and go back home or just to stay because I was already there. I stayed. And cried a little. Or a lot. I called my therapist who I was supposed to meet today after a 2 week holiday break. I called my dad who will be coming to pick me up if need be. I'm fine now. I think. The clonapin has kicked in and I am calm if not zombie-like now.
Speaking of the clonapin---I accidentally inhaled it into my windpipe as I was trying to swallow it. Coughing didn't release it. Drinking didn't release it. My boss stood in front of me watching---not realizing what was happening.
"Great," I thought, "This is how it ends. The brush with death on the way to work was enough but now I get to choke on a nerve pill at work?" I think the bigger fear was the possibility of dying at work and having my coworkers watch them carry my body out after it released all of its fluids. Not the most graceful way to go in my opinion...
Anyway--- *whew!* I'm so thankful it's Friday.
Here's a picture....:) Be safe everybody!!!
